Monkey

In 2014 I worked as a puppet maker on Puppetcraft’s show Monkey, scripted by Michael Rosen and directed by John Roberts. This included stitching hundreds of scales onto a scary dragon puppet, as well as painting the show’s extensive cast of marionettes!

In 2015 I was rehearsed into the show as a puppeteer, touring to schools, village halls, festivals and theatres, including London’s Little Angel Theatre in July 2015 and Scotland’s Puppet Animation Festival in April 2016.

I have also puppeteered in a re-mount of Puppetcraft’s, The Tin Forest, touring to the Little Angel Theatre in July 2016 and Scotland’s Puppet Animation Festival in April 2017.

Working with Puppetcraft has had a long-lasting influence on my own work, both as a puppet maker and as a woodcarver. Marionette’s are becoming a much rarer sight in live performance, so I hope to continue the tradition. John Roberts runs fantastic short courses in puppet carving.
